They say that man (and woman) does not live by bread alone. That's probably why Fireside Pies exists. Because man wants toppings on his bread, and also perhaps a salad to start off with. And, maybe some sangria to wash it all down with!
Last night, my friend Suzanne (another REALTOR®) and I went for dinner at the Fireside Pies located at 2820 N. Henderson Avenue in Dallas. This local pizza restaurant now has several locations in the DFW area and let me just say that their pizza is not "traditional" but their pies are definitely some of my favorites.
Last night, Suzanne and I started off with the Baby Arugala Salad. It's great and enough for several people to share. The menu description for this salad is: "Pt. Reyes Blue, Pepperoni, Roasted Pinon Nuts, Black Mission Olives & Sun Dried Tomatoes with Balsamic Mustard Vinaigrette" It is such a boldly flavored mixture and it compliments the fresh arugala base of the salad without becoming too filling.
We then split the Hot n' Crumbled Pizza. This pie features Jimmy's Spicy Italian Sausage, Roasted Garlic-Herb Whipped Ricotta & Chopped Tomatoes. The sausage is definitely the highlight, but the chopped tomatoes and a great burst of flavor too.
And of course, we indulged in several rounds of Fireside Pies' outstanding Sangria... let's just say it's a good thing we were eating while we were drinking. The Red Passion Sangria (Red wine, brandy, fruit juices and essence of passion fruit) is wonderful, smooth and worth the trip by itself, but with a great meal it's the icing on the cake!
If you are looking for a great "gourmet style" pizza experience in Dallas, Fireside Pies is definitely a top choice. Maybe I will see you there!

oh my gosh you have me positively drooling!
Hi Liz... If you come to visit us in Dallas the next time you are in Texas, I promise to take you there... my treat! :)
Steve: I am ashamed to admit it... but I have never even seen... a "Baby Arugala." How large are they ? And... how big do they get when they grow into full adulthood ?
Oh how cool ! I just noticed the last line in your post. If you are looking for a basic home, or one "with all the toppings."... what a great line. I like it... I really do !
And... I am sure that you got Liz drooling even without the mealtime descriptions. As cute as you are... how could she help but get all excited ?
Steve,
I have driven by that place many times wondering if it was good. Now I know I will check it out.
Steve, I was thinking cherry pie. But the pizza sounds just lovely! Glad I read this after dinner!
Steve, it's all your fault! I'm hungry now! I think I think I may have a frozen "pie" in there. But, I'm fresh out of Sangria! Phooey. Great post! Holiday Hugs, Deb
Hi Steve, You've made me want to drive to Dallas!
Hello Steve, I am a pie man and could just eat the many types of pies all week long. Trouble Ricki won't make me one everyday. This place sounds so good if ever up your way we will try it.
Dang Steve!
Makes us real hungry why don't you! Seriously , your description makes the food sound mouth watering.
Steve, Fireside Pies sounds great. We don't have any here in So. CA (that I know of). Wish we did!

Hi Karen Anne... Baby Arugala are adorable and tasty, but I have to say that I am totally agains the the inhumane killing of Baby Arugala by clubbing them over the head. As for my cuteness, well, that's in the eye of the beholder, I guess.
Hi Richard... It's definitely (and consistently) good!
Hi Pat... Mmmmm... Cherry Pie sounds pretty good too!
Hi Deb... It's definitely better with the Sangria!
Hi Ricki... C'mon up! The Pizza is on me.
Hi Don... C'mon up with Ricki!
Hi Trey... Their food definitely lives up to the description! C'mon up to Big D... lunch is on me!
Steve - Good to hear you're eating well.
Next time I visit Dallas I'll try Fireside Pies (and I'll let you know I'm in Dallas so we can meet for a drink).
Sure Steve, you can go out on Saturday night but not on Thursdays....
I fully expected a glowing review of Kelly's and I almost grabbed Lorrie's phone the other night when I heard you were on it and not having a good day. You were missed.
Hi Regina... They really are good! :)
Hi Stewart... Next time you are in Dallas I'll take you there for dinner... my treat!
Hi Karen... I can go out on Thursdays if I am not required to drive to Plano from Lower Greenville Ave. in rush hour traffic. Unfortunately, I had a client schedule an appointment with me and I was not done until 5:00. It would have been easily 6:00 or later before I could have gotten up there. Sorry! I missed y'all too!
